Dixon Byrd, son of the late Robert B. Byrd, recently donated the desk used by Attorney Byrd and several other artifacts to the History Museum of Burke County.
Robert Byrd practiced law in this area of the state for 46 years before his untimely death in January of 2002.
In accepting the artifacts for the museum, Claude Sitton expressed his delight in receiving the many reminders of his friend and mentor in the law profession. Both grew up in the Drum Straight section of Burke County.
Those interested in viewing the items shown may come by the museum, located at 201 W. Meeting St. in Morganton, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday or from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
