Charges
• Harrell Bruce Powell, Jr., 23, of 3349 Lytle Drive was served an order for arrest on Monday for assault with a deadly weapon, felony breaking and entering and felony assault inflicting seriously injury. Powell was confined at the Burke County Jail. Bond: $25,000 secured. Court date: Oct. 13.
• Lisa Mayes Spencer, 41, of 3010 Shell Ave., Valdese was served a warrant on Monday for simple assault. Bond: $500 secured. Court date: Sept. 19.
• Alden Penland, Jr., 20, of 1527 Mountain Shadows Drive was charged on Monday with possession of drug paraphernalia. Court date: Nov. 21.
• James Dairl Suttles, 42, of 922 E. Union St., Apt. B was charged on Monday with resisting arrest. Court date: Oct. 17.
• Daphne Vandyke Poovey, 36, of 922 E. Union St., Apt. B was served an order for arrest on Monday for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Poovey was confined at Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility (BCDCF). Bond: $3,000 secured. Court date: Oct. 13.
• Markus Levar Connelly, 26, of 133 Walker Road was served a warrant on Monday for two counts of felony assault on a female and one count of felony habitual assault. Connelly was confined at BCDCF. Bond: $10,000 secured. Court date: Oct. 13.
• Robert Dean Lail, 21, of 4617 Dysartsville Road was served an order for arrest on Monday for possession of a malt beverage by a 19- or 20-year-old and show cause for fines and cost. Lail was confined at the Burke County Jail. Bond: $230 cash. Court date: Sept. 29.
• Amber Michelle Newton, 25, of 7096 Wondering Place, Connelly Springs was served criminal summons on Sunday for larceny. Court date: Thursday.
• Susa Cha, 32, of 4016 Southpark Drive was served an order for arrest on Sunday for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering and felony possession of stolen goods. Cha was confined at BCDCF while awaiting a custody release. Court date: Oct. 13.
• Amy Elizabeth Biggerstaff, 26, of 103 Apartment SR, Apt. B, Drexel was served a warrant on Sunday for felony possession of a controlled substance in jail or prison. Biggerstaff was confined at BCDCF. Bond: $5,000 secured. Court date: was Monday.
• Charles Todd Richie, 40, of 48-31st Ave. NE, Hickory was served a warrant on Sunday for assault on a female and breaking and entering. Richie was confined at BCDCF under a 48-hour hold. Court date: Oct. 17.
• Gerald Pete Cassesse, 36, of 1130 Praley St., Valdese was served a warrant on Sunday for communicating threats. Cassesse was confined at BCDCF under a 48-hour hold.
• Eileen Kaye Willis, 50, of 3887 E. Burke Blvd. was served an order for arrest on Sunday for speeding, driving while license revoked, operating a vehicle with no insurance, expired inspection sticker and fictitious registration card or tag. Bonds: $2,000 secured and $500 secured. Court dates: Today, Oct. 20.
• Dorian Michael Morgan, 19, of 1309 Avery Road was charged on Sunday with resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, open container of liquor in a vehicle and driving during revocation. Morgan was confined at BCDCF. Bond: $1,000 secured. Court date: Nov. 11.
• Harry James Phister, 50, of 102 Carolina St., Apt. A was charged on Sunday with inhaling fumes for intoxication. Phister was confined at BCDCF. Bond: $500 secured. Court date: Nov. 7.
• Thomas Messer Harold, Jr., 32, of 5950 Mourglea Ave., Connelly Springs was served a warrant on Sunday for assault on a female, second degree trespassing and injury to personal property. Harold was confined at the Burke County Jail. Bond: $1,000 secured. Court date: Oct. 8.
• Tosha Lee Lewis, 18, of 906 Jamestown Road, Apt. D1 was charged on Saturday with shoplifting. Lewis was confined at BCDCF. Bond: $500 secured. Court date: Sept. 24.
• Alma Kaye Hildebran, 42, of 4965 Mineral Springs Mountain Road, Valdese was served a warrant on Saturday for first degree trespassing and simple assault. Hildebran was released after signing a written promise to appear. Court date: Friday.
• Angie Mitchell, 35, of 100 Jim Grady Road was served criminal summons on Saturday for simple assault. Court date: Oct. 27.
• Mario Donsha Connelly, 22, of 105 Kirk St. was charged on Friday with driving during revocation. Bond: $500 secured. Court date: was Monday.
• Brandon Kyle Ledford, 18, of 1307 Hillhaven Circle, No. 7 was charged on Friday with underage possession of alcohol. Court date: Nov. 3.
• Triniece Nathaniel Hayden, 28, of 1413 Bretton St., Winston-Salem was charged on Friday with resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, two counts of failure to appear in court in Winston-Salem and no operator's license. Hayden was confined at the Burke County Jail. Court date: Nov. 5.
• Michelle Metteer Baker, 40, of 209 College St. was charged on Friday with DWI and one way violation. Baker was confined at the Burke County Jail while awaiting a custody release. Court date: Nov. 5.
• Jose Pascual Jose, 24, of 613 Carbon City Road was charged on Friday with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver crack cocaine and drunk and disruptive behavior. He was also served a warrant for felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance. Jose was confined at BCDCF. Bond: $25,000 secured. Court date: was Monday.

Incidents
• Maria Juarez-Ambrocio, 25, reported on Monday the theft of her purse from her vehicle while parked at Habaneros Mexican Restaurant, 412 W. Fleming Drive. Juarez-Ambrocio left her purse, which contained her identification, food stamps and assorted jewelry, in the front passenger area of the vehicle.
• Chrystal Jean Freeman, 58, of 4870 Crystal Creek Road reported on Sunday a burglary, breaking and entering and theft at her residence. Freeman said she was asleep when her three dogs began barking and ran into the living room. When Freeman entered the living room she turned on the lights and saw a white man hiding in the corner next to the television. The man fled the scene when they made eye contact. Upon inspecting her husband's vehicle, the couple found two packs of cigarettes missing, which were found along the path the suspect used to flee.
• Grace Cook Hughes, 70, of 2309 U.S. 70 W reported on Sunday a breaking and entering, theft and damage to her property at her residence. Someone entered Hughes' home and removed jewelry and antique coins.
• Jessie Eugene Rhoney reported on Sunday damage to property at Faith Chapel Baptist Church, 959 Summers Road. Rhoney said that sometime during the night someone picked up a small plastic sign that had a Bible verse on it and used it to break the glass out of the large masonry sign in front of the church.
• Jorany Rojo, 17, of 116 Ross St., Apt. F reported on Sunday the theft of his backpack that occurred on Friday outside of his residence. Rojo said he left his backpack outside the front door, when he returned two hours later the bag was missing.
• Steven Ray Goins, 37, reported on Sunday a theft at his business, Jack-B-Quick, 7841 Old N.C. 10, Icard. Goins said a store clerk reported a water leak, but Goins discovered it was an empty jug of water hiding under a shelf. After performing an inventory he said the cigarette count came up short. The store surveillance system shows a white man taking the missing cigarettes and pouring the water on the floor.
• Walter Vincente Hernandez, 27, of 104 New St., reported on Saturday a breaking and entering and theft into two vehicles at his residence. Hernandez said his father-in-law heard the dogs barking, and Hernandez went outside to check on the dogs. He saw a black man going through his sister-in-law's vehicle. The suspect fled when he saw Hernandez. It appeared that the suspect used something to pry open the driver's side front window of Hernandez's car. His sister-in-law's car was not damaged, but several items were missing.
• Jeff Scott Hawkins, 36, reported on Saturday a theft at 1613 U.S. 70 W that he found on Thursday. Missing items included the electric breaker box, water heater, electric furnace, copper water pipe, bathroom sink and outside heat and air conditioning unit.
• John Mamph reported on Saturday the theft of five catalytic converters from three U-Haul trucks at his business, J&R Automotive, 3475 N.C. 181. This is the fourth occurrence in the past few months at the business. Mamph installed floodlights to deter thieves and regularly checks the trucks for thefts.
• Kathryn Frances Debadts, 55, of 6693 Jenkins Road reported on Friday the theft of her debit card from her purse at her residence. Debadts said the suspect had already made several transactions totaling $3,000.
