If temperatures are warming and flowers are blooming that can only mean one thing in Drexel: the carnival.
The Drexel Spring Carnival starts Tuesday and runs through April 11 with rides, games, food and entertainment.
"It's going to be a good time to get out of the house and see some friends and enjoy yourself at a terrific bargain," said Don Deal, president of the Drexel Fair board of directors.
Inners Shows from Franklin will bring all the usual rides, including the Ferris wheel, swings sidewinder, hustler, Musik Express and carousel.
While the exhibition hall won't be open, the carnival will offer entertainment throughout the week.
Entertainment on the Tommy Calhoun Legendary Ford Stage includes:
Mud Cut on Wednesday, playing a variety of country and rock tunes.
Country Modified on Thursday, playing country music.
Fab Beat on Friday, which is a Beatles cover band.
Scott Davis Band on Saturday night performing country tunes.
And you can't have rides and music without something to munch on.
The Drexel Fire Department will sell goodies, including their specialty of country ham, and Morganton First Church of God will offer funnel cakes for sale.
Jenks Concession also will be there offering eats.
The carnival has free admission. Bracelets for daily unlimited ride passes are $12 but $2 coupons are available at Chick-fil-A in Morganton, Butch's BBQ in Morganton, Kelly's Quick Stop on N.C. 18 South and Jack-B-Quick in Drexel, Deal said.
The carnival is held at the Drexel Fairgrounds behind the R.O. Huffman Center.
