Saturday
• Mull's Grove Baptist Church will have a July 4 parade and VBS kickoff block party starting at 10 a.m. Entry to the parade is free. Games will follow with a 25-cents-per-ball charge for the dunking booth. Call 430-0908.

• Registration deadline for VBS at First Presbyterian and Green Street Presbyterian churches is today. The theme is "Get On The Bus," a look at the church during the Civil Rights movement. 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 19-23. Adult class (nursery provided). Tuesday
• The Christian Business Men's Connection of Burke County meets at noon Tuesdays for lunch at the Morganton Community House. No membership fees or requirements. Call 437-6285 or www.cbmc.com.
• Burke United Christian Ministries provides assistance for working families and seniors without transportation from 5 to 7 p.m. on every second and third Tuesday of the month.
Wednesday
• Outreach Wednesdays are on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of each month at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. A meal is served.
• "Knitwits," a prayer shawl ministry at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays in the fellowship hall. Bring a project and a covered dish. Call 433-5308.
