Injuries keep three in hospital

Three in critical condition after head-on collision

Morganton - Two men and a woman remain hospitalized after a head-on collision Sunday night sent them to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
North Carolina State Highway Trooper Brad Clark said Patsy Neill, 51, of Cherryville, was traveling south on N.C. 18 when she drove left of center near South View Boulevard and hit an oncoming vehicle.
Maximiliano Rodriguez, 28, of 26.5 Herron St., was driving the oncoming vehicle and Daniel Ajpazaja, 38, of 111 Elm St., was the passenger.
All three suffered critical injuries at the scene, Clark said.
Neill was trapped in her vehicle with life-threatening injuries, Clark said. She was airlifted from the scene to CMC.
Both Rodriguez and Ajpazaja were transported to Grace Hospital and airlifted to CMC.
Burke County Emergency Services, Burke REACT, George Hildebran Fire Department and Salem Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.
