Newton - "The Stephen Schwartz Project," featuring the music and lyrics of Stephen Schwartz, is a new musical revue based on the works of Stephen Schwartz and is in development in Newton as a potential Broadway debut.
Schwartz is the composer and lyricist from show's including "Wicked," "Godspell," "Pippin" and with movies including "Pocahontas," "Enchanted" and "The Prince of Egypt."
He is the recipient of three Academy Awards, four Grammy Awards and four Drama Desk Awards.
Advance tickets for "The Stephen Schwartz Project" are available now at the Newton-Conover Auditorium box office or by phone at 464-8100.
The box office, at 60 West Sixth Street in Newton, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
All seats are assigned seating with ticket prices of $20 for orchestra seating (lower level), $15 for balcony seating and $10 for upper balcony seating. E-mail reservations will be accepted at rhelton@nccpp.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door beginning one hour before each performance.
The Newton-Conover Auditorium also will offer two budget friendly promotions. Thursday (this week only) is Pay What You Can Night. This pre-opening night preview performance is the last rehearsal before the opening night. The performance time is at 7 p.m. and the suggested donation is $6.
All seats are general admission and reservations are not required.
The Newton-Conover Auditorium also invites theatergoers to Get Schwartzed, giving everyone $5 off the regular ticket price to any of the four matinee performances.
Those performances are at 3 p.m. Aug. 1, 2, 8 and 9. To Get Schwartzed, wear a "Wicked" witch of the West hat or a "Godspell" wig. Everyone with the appropriate headgear will receive $5 off for any of these four performances.
