As the hurricane season quickly approaches, the North Carolina Helo-Aquatic Rescue Team trains and prepares in Burke County.
NCHART will be trained this week on Lake James to prepare for the up-coming hurricane season. NCHART is a specialized team of civilian responders that train with the National Guard for helicopter rescue using the Blackhawk Military Helicopter.
Agencies involved in the training are NC National Guard, NC Emergency Management, Burke County Emergency Services, Burke County Sheriffs Department, Oak Hill Fire / Rescue Department, Charlotte Fire Department, Asheville Fire Department, Burke County REACT, Lenoir Rescue, Western Piedmont Community College, REDS, Cary Fire Department, Rocky Mount Fire Department, Transylvania County EMS, South Orange Rescue, and Gaston County EMS.
