Tape of vandalism not in authority's hands
MORGANTON - A surveillance tape purportedly showing suspects vandalizing a vehicle Thursday that displays signs of support for Burke County Public Schools Superintendent David Burleson and denouncing the Burke County Board of Education has not been turned in to law enforcement officials.
Both Morganton Department of Public Safety and the Burke County Sheriff's Office said they had not received a tape concerning the incident.
Jimmy Steele, the owner of the truck, has parked his truck in the past weeks in various locations throughout Morganton.
Steele, who claimed to have the tape in his possession, declined to comment on the incident and video.

Charges
• Roland Billy Greene III, 28, of 314 Oakland Ave., Drexel was served a warrant Monday for larceny and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was confined at Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility. Bond: $5,500 secured. Court dates: today, June 29.
• Tory Lee Honeycutt, 29, of 1035 Salem Road, Apt. A was served criminal summons Monday for simple assault. Court date: June 15.
• Sharon Jean Hurley, 50, of 406 Timberline Drive was served criminal summons Monday for second-degree trespassing. Court date: June 19.
• Kenny Lee Smith, 21, of 3714 N.C. 18 S. was served criminal summons Monday for failure to return rental property. Court date: June 10.
• Brett Randall Bowman, 42, of 986 Hopewell Road was served criminal summons Monday for failure to deliver a title. Court date: June 8.

Incident
• Tammy Lee Flack, 39, reported Monday damage to property at 4580 Fire Thorn St. Flack is remodeling the home after a fire caused damage and no one was staying at the residence. Flack said she found the back sliding glass door and window broken. She believes a cinder block on the floor was used to break the glass.
