Spruce Pine, NC - I am a retired U.S. Coast Guard health services technician chief with 22 years of honorable service. I graduated from the Naval School of Health Sciences, Bethesda Detachment, Portsmouth Naval Hospital, as a surface forces independent duty corpsman and served over eight of my 22 years' service in isolated environments separate from a medical officer where I was directly responsible for the lives and health care of military and civilian men, women, commercial fishermen and oil rig workers. I believe myself to be a good judge of character, given the many varied experiences in my life as a Coastie.
I believe that Catherine Thomas, Susan Stroup, Buddy Armour and Sam Wilkinson are honorable, courageous, tenacious, thoughtful, intelligent and independent persons with the heart, education and experience to assume leadership roles as members of the Burke County school board.
Please exercise your right and duty as a citizen of the United States of America to vote. There has never before been (in my experience) a more critical time to vote; most especially, for the best interests of the children of Burke County.
