Morganton - A motorist ran off the road late Friday afternoon and into CBS Sports, 911 N. Green St.
Morganton Department of Public Safety Officer Ronnie Gibbs said Larry Brown, 53, of 1385 Cube Drive, Valdese, was driving north on North Green Street when his truck crossed the road and hit the business.
Brown, who had a seatbelt on, did not suffer any injuries, but was transported to Grace Hospital, Gibbs said.
Brown told officers he has a history of seizures.
The front end of the truck penetrated the eastern wall of CBS Sports, scattering merchandise in the store.
CBS Sports owner Bryan Searcy was inside with customers when Brown's vehicle struck.
"I knew exactly what it was," Searcy said.
Searcy said he quickly and calmly checked first to make sure no one was near the damaged wall.
Searcy said the wall had significant damage that must be repaired just two weeks before his business' busiest time of the year.
The store will be secured by the end of the day, Searcy said, and will continue its regular hours.
Having survived tornados and floods, Searcy said this latest incident "is just a little blip."
