Friday
- Restoration Family Worship will have its Gettin' Crunk for Jesus Fall Festival from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Collett Street Recreation Center.
- Bethel United Methodist Church, 1338 Bethel Road, will have a trunk or treat and hot dog supper from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Pumpkin carving contest, costume contests, face painting and other games.
- Slades Chapel AME Zion Church, 307 E. Union St., Morganton will have a benefit dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Saturday and a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for Ireta "Pinky" Wright. Dinner donations are $7.
Saturday
- Hallelujah Square, 3025 Jamestown Road, will host Parables of Christ at 7 p.m. Free admission. Doors open at 6 p.m. Coffee, soft drinks and desserts available Call 584-7040.
- Lighthouse Gospel Music Ministries, 212 Walker Road, will have open mic night with a covered-dish supper starting at 5 p.m. Singing starts at 6 p.m. with drawings for prizes throughout the evening. Free admission, coffee and snacks. Call 584-3697.
- Angel Food Ministry orders for November will be taken at First United Methodist Church Valdese from 10 a.m. to noon today and Nov. 7. Market baskets of groceries, including meats, cost $30 or less. Thanksgiving special ($36) may be ordered until today. Food stamps accepted. Pickup date is 10 a.m. Nov. 14. Call 874-0006.
- St. Mary's Church, 140 St. Mary's Church Road, will have trunk or treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Candy, games and an outdoor movie featuring the youth.
n First Baptist Church of Morganton will have the Great Pumpkin Party from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the fellowship hall and on the front lawn with inflatables, a cake walk, face painting, games and prizes.
- The Original Gospel Mellotones' eighth reunion will begin at 7 p.m. at Burgess Chapel United Methodist Church in Granite Falls. Featured groups include By Faith from Morganton. Masters of ceremony are minister Edward R. McGimpsey II and brother Clarence E. Johnson.
- Smyrna Baptist Church will begin its annual fall festival at 2 p.m. with games, cotton candy and inflatables for the children. A 5:30 p.m. fish fry will be followed by trunk or treat. The church is 10 miles west of Kmart on N.C. 181.
- North Morganton United Methodist Church, 990 Sanford Drive, will have a Halloween carnival and trunk or treat from 6 to 8 p.m.
Sunday
- Handful Ministries will have a fall revival through Nov. 10 at Ebony Funeral Services' E.R. McGimpsey Sr. Memorial Chapel, 519 Main St. NW, Lenoir. Monday through Friday services start at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday services start at 6 p.m. The theme is "Double for Your Trouble, An Experience with Jesus Christ." Featuring Terry Hunt, James Wilfong, John Cantrell Sr., Cardell Chambers, Annie Belle Corpening, Pastor Willie McCorkle, Max Bristol, Naomi Cantrell, Yvonne Carson, Tucker Gibbs, Erika Hendrix, Donald Barber, Edward McGimpsey II, Augusta Wallace, Vernadean Starks, Apostle Marvin L. Grant Sr. and Bishop Shawn Hooper.
- Crosslink Church, formally known as Evangelical Methodist Church, is launching a campaign for its building expansion. Bob Entner will be the guest speaker.
- Hopewell Baptist Church, 1112 Hopewell Road, will have a "native son" revival through Thursday. Speakers include four former members serving in other churches or ministries. Another, a Hopewell member, has been called to the ministry and soon will begin his formal education. Services at 8:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. - Burke United Christian Ministries provides assistance for working families and seniors without transportation from 5 to 7 p.m. every second and third Tuesday of the month.
Wednesday
-Grace Episcopal Church women will have their monthly noon luncheon in the Parish Hall. The program will include the annual meeting and an introduction to the new parish nurse, Lynn Pascale. Call 437 -6735.
- Outreach Wednesdays are on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of each month at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. A meal is served.
- "Knitwits,"a prayer shawl ministry at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays in the fellowship hall. Bring a project and a covered dish. Call 433-5308.
- Joy Group (Just Older Youth) of Drexel First Baptist Church rehearses at 4 p.m.
Thursday
- Non-sectarian Buddhist group meets each week at 6:30 p.m. Call 443-1161.
- GriefShare, a weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them, meets 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Bethany Hall at Hildebran First Baptist Church. The church is located off Interstate 40, Exit 118.
