Faith and Freedom
The royal fight
For maintaining faith and freedom
Must persevere
Day by day
We should strive
To build spiritual strength
Enabling us to hold firm to
Truth and liberty
Waging war if necessary
To ascertain faith and freedom
We must not become complacent
Or careless
For if our faith falters
So will the priceless freedom
Upon which our beloved country was founded
Midnight Is Coming
Anyone can praise the Lord
When they're not fighting demon foes
It takes faith-grounded Christians
To praise during midnight woes
Praise may not change the situation
Nor make our troubles cease
But it lifts our spirit unto God
Until He gives us peace
If you haven't had your midnight
Neither judge nor harbor pride
For midnight surely is coming
And you'll need God by your side
White Night (Insomnia)
The still night calls out to me whispering my name
getting my open-eyed attention
begging me to stay awake Moonbeams streak
through the cracks of my blinds
challenging me to participate
in the wide-eyed call of nightfall.
Counting proves futile
Sheep have abandoned me
Like them
my thoughts are widely scattered
Oh ... to sleep ... and dream
Night passes before my anxious eyes
forcing me to accept sleep-fasting
Finally the bleak darkness fades away
and dawn breaks the sluggish silence
Today I'll need STOUT coffee
Lonely Thoughts
You say you feel all alone and blue
And your loved ones cannot understand
It seems they haven't a single clue
That you need a loving, helping hand
You wonder why you feel so down
Why nothing seems to ease the pain
Of that lonely feeling, even in a crowd
When the music is over, comes back again
Everyone wants to speak their opinion
Concerning why you behave as you do
They haven't a notion, not one in a zillion
That you're just trying to find the real you
Talking To Jesus
I talked to Jesus again last night
Just wanted everything to be all right
I thanked Him for life and everything good
Then promised to live the way that I should
I prayed that all who were lost in sin
Would turn to God and live for Him
I asked His forgiveness for every sin
And the mistakes I had made again
I said that I loved Him with all my heart
And from His love I would not depart
I talked to Jesus again last night
Then Jesus and I made everything right
