It was standing-room only for Morganton Christian Academy's annual spelling bee held on Jan. 27 at Morganton Baptist Church.
This was a competition between five non-public schools in the surrounding area. The schools represented were Heritage Christian School in Hudson, New Manna Christian School in Marion, Morganton Christian Academy, Silver Creek Seventh Day Adventist School in Morganton, and Tabernacle Christian School in Hickory.
Thirty-six contestants participated and four categories were offered. All first-place winners received trophies and second-place winners received ribbons.
All 36 contestants received goodie bags. Morganton Christian Academy's goal for next year's spelling bee is to invite more schools.
