Little League officials may meet on Friday and decide where the organization will relocate its southeastern headquarters.
Morganton is under consideration along with Greenville, S.C., and Warner Robins, Ga.
Gary Leonhardt, director of parks and recreation for Morganton, said he has "a gut feeling" that the city could hear about a decision as early as Monday.
Leonhardt said Little League's finance officer has called him three times since the city submitted its final proposal at the end of October. He said the calls were related to the proposal "and how different things would work."
The phone calls didn't give any indication about which city Little League may be leaning, Leonhardt said.
He still feels good about Morganton's proposal and said Little League officials seemed to show a genuine interest in Morganton.
"We'll just have to wait and see," Leonhardt said.
City officials say Morganton submitted a proposal that includes building a 5,000-seat stadium, an administration building, restrooms, a concession stand, a merchandising building and a parking lot for the administration building.
The total cost is approximately $7 million.
The city expects to pick up about $3.6 million of the total cost while Little League will likely put in around $3 million, say city officials.
