MORGANTON — A woman driving an SUV that was involved in a car wreck on N.C. 18 on Thursday is charged with DWI by the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Aleisha Renee Pope, 23, of 305 Highridge Drive, Apt. B was driving south on N.C. 18 when her vehicle allegedly traveled left of center and struck an oncoming red minivan, according to the police report.
Mildred Setzer Cook, 62, of 4134 River Road died at the scene, Trooper Daniel Lane said. Her husband, Raymond Sidney Cook, 67, was airlifed from the scene to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Raymond Cook was listed on Friday in fair condition.
First Sgt. Greg Duckworth said there may be additional charges coming at the discretion of the District Attorney's office.
