Morganton Swim Club takes team title

The summer conference meet with Morganton Swim Club, Forest City, Granite Falls, McDowell Mariners, Valdese Swim and Transylvania swim teams recently took place at the Valdese outdoor pool.
Morganton was victorious winning the overall conference meet for the first time in more than 30 years. The team was led by coach Danny St. Louis.
Morganton's team total was 958 points. Grantie Falls was second with 781; Valdese third with 591; McDowell Mariners with 578; Forrest City with 338; and Transylvania County with 203.
Morganton's top group was the 13-14 girls with the 8 and unders and 9-10 girls performing well. Marlena Moore, a graduating senior, won top points award and had her personal best in the 100 yard butterfly
The swim club has swimmers in ages 6 to 18 years old and offers both a summer and year round league.
