Patton High School will host "A Night for Uganda," a benefit dinner to raise awareness about education in Uganda, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 10.
Patton High student Michael Welker is organizing the event as part of his senior project.
Proceeds from the event will go to St. Bakhita School in Gulu, Uganda.
Guests will enjoy a traditional Ugandan meal of chicken and chickpea stew, greens with groundnut (peanut) sauce and posho (grits).
Dinner will be followed by a screening of the film "War Dance." The Oscar-nominated documentary examines the role of music in the lives of children in parts of Uganda devastated by civil war. The film is rated PG-13 for thematic material involving descriptions of war atrocities.
Tickets cost $8, but added donations will be welcomed. Tickets must be ordered in advance.
For further information or to order tickets, contact Michael Welker at (336) 756-1744 or via e-mail at mwelker15@gmail.com.
