»  Comments | Post a Comment

Burke County reports there was a discharge of 700 gallons of wastewater from the Filter Bed Control House on Catawba Street in Burke County from 5:16 to 5:22 a.m. on Jan. 7, that ran into a small creek that discharged into the Catawba River. The excessive storm water created a problem with the dosing valve that caused the three remaining valves to be manually opened. In doing this, the problem was taken care of.
The Town of Rhodhiss had a discharge of untreated wastewater from two manholes on Caldwell Street of approximately 4,250 gallons. The discharge occurred from 5 to 6:25 a.m. on Jan. 7. The untreated wastewater entered the Catawba River through the overflow of two manholes located on Caldwell Street near the Caldwell Pump Station No. 1. The pump station was pumped out by a septic tank service and the excess storm water that occurred from early morning down pour of rain was taken care of.
