Gwen Hughes and the Retro Jazz Kats will play TGIF at 7 p.m. on Friday on the Courthouse Square in downtown Morganton.
This act fuses swing with jazz with rock-n-roll and R & B in a deliciously different way.
They were voted Atlanta's favorite jazz/swing singer multiple times.
The concert is sponsored by More Lace, Camp Lake James and the Burke Arts Council.
Hughes and her band is now one of the premier swing bands in Atlanta, and The Atlanta Journal Constitution declared, "Gwen Hughes was swinging before swinging got cool."
Hughes said, "We are the real thing; jack, true jazz musicians that aren't posing as swing cats. That's why the band is called The Retro Jazz Kats, a legit combination of true jazz and dance."
Case Farms, Food Lion, Pepsi, The News Herald and United Beverage are this year's concert series main sponsors. Because of their continued support TGIF continues to offer high quality entertainment, free to everyone.
Food vendors are on site.
No personal coolers and no pets allowed on site. The Jailhouse Gallery, located right next door, will be open.
The TGIF Concert Series is a production of Historic Morganton Festival, Inc.
