Join one of Burke County's own, Scott Davis and his band, Wild Eyed Southern Boys on Friday as they bring some county music to the TGIF concert series.
Concerts run from 7 to 10 p.m. on the lawn of the Historic Courthouse Square with food and beverage vendors opening at 6 p.m.
Friday's concert is sponsored by SmokeFoot Trade & Loan and Haugen-Carver Financial Group of Wachovia Securities.
The TGIF concert series sponsors are Case Farms, Food Lion, Pepsi, The News Herald and United Beverage. TGIF offers high-quality entertainment free to everyone.
Food vendors include Scarboro Fair, who will offer up chicken fingers, hamburgers, corndogs and more; Lowery's BBQ, who will feature barbecue pork and beef; other vendors will offer frozen lemonade, homemade fried apple pies, ice cream, candy and caramel apples and kettle corn.
Davis grew up around music in Granite Falls, paid his dues as "roadie" and soon found himself as lead singer to The Studebaker Hawk Band. After the band disbanded Davis formed his current group, whose music will show the influences of Travis Tritt, Merle Haggard, Lynard Skynard, George Strait and Alan Jackson.
No personal coolers and no pets will be allowed on site. The Jailhouse Gallery, located right next door, will be open. The TGIF Concert Series is a production of Historic Morganton Festival.Call 438-5280 or downtownmorganton@compascable.net.
