Hatley: Four can help undo damage

»  Comments | Post a Comment

If economic recovery is to occur within Burke County, and not just in surrounding counties, it is vital that a high-quality, accredited, progressive public school system be in place.
The current majority on the board of education has committed actions that have destroyed the honor, integrity and financial solvency of the Burke County Public Schools. Their actions have brought ridicule and shame upon the caring and hard-working people of Burke County, the children and the employees of the school system.
It will take a lot of hard work by everyone to undo the damage done by this current board majority, but that difficult task can be accomplished if the right people are elected and the citizens stay involved after the election.
I urge you to vote for Sam Wilkinson, Buddy Armour, Catherine Thomas and Susan Stroup on Nov. 3. They have the skills and determination to return financial solvency, pride, honor, scholarship, dignity and opportunity to beautiful Burke County, its citizens, its school system and most especially the children.
