I have had the privilege of knowing Susan Stroup for five years since she was new to Glen Alpine Elementary, as a principal, and I was a new parent of a kindergarten student. Over the first couple of years I only had brief contact with her. After the first years' running so smoothly, I was distraught when I began to have issues. After I sent her an e-mail, it took her about 30 minutes to respond, stating she was working on the issues and would be back to me as soon as she could check with the appropriate employees. Soon I had the solution I needed.
During her time at Glen Alpine Elementary I contacted her about different things. She was always prompt and helpful. I am not saying we always agreed, but she always made me feel important and that she cared about my concerns and opinion.
I have a lot of respect for this fine Christian, classy lady who was a part of my son's life for his first four years in Burke County schools. She always had a smile on her face, a thumbs-up attitude and on an occasion a hug.
Due to her being trusting, wonderful person she is, I was ecstatic when she announced she would run for the school board and though she was retiring she would still be a part of our kids' lives.
After prayerful consideration, I feel Susan Stroup is the best candidate for the unexpired term of the Western District. She always puts the students first and has a clear understanding of exactly what it is going to take for our schools to be rescued.
I personally would like to thank Susan Stroup for her commitment to Our Lord and Savior, to our students, to our schools and to our county.
My vote will be for SWAT so the fine people in Burke County will have our schools back on track.
I pray each of you will be prayerful about the election. Pray first and then vote.
