Tallent: Vote for Minich, Norman, Stamey to end madness

»  Comments | Post a Comment

At the Burke County school board candidates forum Oct. 6 in CoMMA, I was struck by the lack of professionalism exhibited by the SWAT team. I left knowing I would not cast a vote for any member of this group.
The evening was filled with criticism and fault-finding by the four of them, with no real plan for our school system. It is quite clear they have a personal agenda and it does not appear to include what is best for students' education. They seemed more focused on bashing Tracy Norman.
Every time Norman tried to answer a question, supporters of this group were rude and made inappropriate comments. I was astonished and dumbfounded by their behavior. The depths of the dark pit of deception, rumors, innuendos and inappropriate behavior exhibited by many of them are beyond belief.
As a recent graduate and young voter in Burke County, I ask you to go to the polls and help stop the madness that is trying to take over our county. Don't allow your voice to be silenced by a group that is nothing less than an out-of-control mob — a mob that I believe is raging like a fire whose flames are being fanned by SOS and SWAT. Do you really want any of these individuals controlling your children and grandchildren's education?
Nov. 3, I will be voting for Tracy Norman, Linda Minich, James Stamey and Dianne Mobley. I invite you to join me. Burke County's future and our schools depend on us. We can't afford to let them down.

Editor's note: Though Dianne Mobley's name remains on the ballot for the Eastern District seat, she withdrew from the race on Sept. 7.
