It was a tough night for both East Burke and Freedom High school's football teams.
East Burke traveled to Salisbury for the No. 9 vs. No. 8 playoff game in the class 2AA West state playoffs.
East Burke left with a season-ending 35-6 loss.
Freedom had the same fate as they faced defending state 3A champion West Rowan High in the No. 15 vs. No. 2 class 3A state playoff game.
West Rowan won the game 48-15.
East Burke finishes the year 8-4 overall and 5-2 in the Catawba Valley Athletic Conference.
Freedom finishes the year 5-7 overall and 3-3 in the South Mountain Athletic Conference.
