Elinora B. Miller recently donated several artifacts to The History Museum of Burke County. Among the items were several hand-carved figures carved by her late husband, Ray Kent Miller. Miller was a professor at Western Piedmont Community College for 30 years. After studying under a German woodcarver, he took up carving which turned into a lifelong hobby.
Miller, while a student at Berea College, met and married Elinora Brittain, granddaughter of Tim and Mattie Mull, decendants of Jacob Mull, one of the earlier settlers of Burke County.
The artifacts may be seen by touring the museum. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
