For some unknown reason, the apparent corruption that is taking place in our government system is being ignored by many, but, among those people who decide to constantly ignore the corruption, are mainly teenagers.
As a teen myself, I find it important to know your world and surroundings and to be informed as much as possible. Teenagers seem to lose track or, more recently, not even care or try to understand their government and the officials that will be making choices that will ultimately affect them, such as the recent school board dilemma(s). It is absurd that teenagers would much rather spend time getting high through substance abuse or attending parties that will allow them to get drunk, rather than worrying about becoming successful, their potential and their futures.
The time for sitting down and ignoring reality is over for America's youth, as it has been for so long. To think that the future of America, North Carolina and Burke County will rely on the actions and decisions of the younger generation is quite shocking and in some ways terribly frightening. America is on the way to self-destruction as we speak and if the next generation is unsuccessful at reversing this ongoing process, it will be devastating.
The bottom line is that we teens cannot ignore responsibility. I am bringing this to your attention in an attempt to wake you up and present you with facts and not the brainwashing material that you are subjected to on a daily basis. thanks to your peers.
