Thief hits shopping plaza
VALDESE - The Burke County Sheriff's Office reported a series of break-ins between Sunday evening and Monday morning at several businesses in a shopping plaza on U.S. 70.
The suspect entered Asian Food Market, Hair Affair, Happy Garden Restaurant and Fender Studio from their back doors, leaving cabinets and drawers open and causing damage to property. Reports indicate the suspect left numerous footprints.
The suspect also knocked a large hole in the wall between Fender Studio and Happy Garden to gain entry to the restaurant.
The suspect took cash and electronics from the businesses.
Charges
• Steven Vallejo Weymer, 19, of 2206-10th St., Lake Charles, La., was charged Nov. 15 with underage possession or consumption of an alcoholic beverage. Court date: Monday.
• Jonathan Keith Brown, 34, of 225 Shuffler Road was served a warrant Nov. 15 for assault on a female, communicating threats and damage to property. He was confined at Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility. Court date: Dec. 14.
• Jeffery Brian Walker, 32, of 404 Fletcher St. Apt. F was charged Nov. 14 with DWI. He was confined at BCDCF. Bond: $500 secured. Court date: Jan. 4.
Incident
• Stacy Shannon Hoyle, 32, of 7903 Old NC 10 Lot 9, Icard, on Monday reported a break-in and theft at his residence. Somone pried open the front door, entered and took the 42-inch television.
