Burke County Sheriff's detectives are still looking for the man who, on Sept. 18, attempted to rob the BB&T bank branch at 301 S. Center St.
A witness told officers the week before the robbery the suspect was driving a vehicle similar to the one pictured above.
The tires on the car appear smaller than normal and similar to a spare tire, the witness added. The vehicle's color is light blue or faded light blue.
The suspect, a white male in his 40s, entered the bank branch shortly after 1 p.m. Sept. 18 and handed the bank teller a note, investigators said.
Detective Sgt. Rodney Norman said, "The note said, in effect, 'Give me your money and if you don't do it you'll be the first to die.'"
The bank teller gave the man the money along with a dye pack, investigators said, but the man recognized the dye pack and left the premises on foot without the money.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Burke County Sheriff's Office at 438-5500 or Burke County Crimestoppers at 437-3333.
