Sunny skies paved the way to some much improved scores during Wednesday's regular season final round of golf at Silver Creek Golf Plantation.
East Burke High, with the most consistent play throughout the regular season, fired a team score of 150 to claim the top spot for the fourth time this year.
"We ended up winning the Burke County Championship," an elated Lady Cavs' head coach Katie Gravel said. "Marianne had some early troubles but came back with two birdies."
Patton (158) edged Freedom (159) by one stroke while Draughn equaled their score from Monday's round with a 172.
East Burke golfer Marianne Burris carded a 5-over round of 42, which included two birdies for the talented sophomore. Senior Lauren Church and sophomore Bridget Abee tallied rounds of 54 to pace the Lady Cavs. Dakota Crapps finished with a 59.
Patton was paced by Kerri Carswell's round of 48. The Lady Panthers' Temple Cook, Cassi Saunders and MK McKinney recorded scores of 55 in helping Patton take second place overall.
Patton's Caroline Bowers (57), Kaitlin Berry (59) and Emma Miller (59) rounded out the Lady Panthers scores.
Freedom was led by junior Katie Reid's round of 47. Erin Phillips fired her best round of the season with a 52. Freshman Megan Parlier obtained a 60 while senior Baby Evitt scored a 63 in the 20-player field.
Draughn golfer Kristen Murray made a huge turnaround from Monday's round to post a team-leading score of 51 at Silver Creek. The senior, with her third round of 51 this season, improved from her round of 60 on Monday at Orchard Hills Golf Club.
The Lady Wildcats other four scores came from Molly Murray (60), Katie Martin (61), Katie Lambert (61) and Taylar Kiser (62).
