Draughn's girls cross country team won the Catawba Valley Athletic Conference championship on Oct. 19.
The Lady Wildcats scored 61 points to beat Maiden (65 pts) and Bunker Hill (68 pts) in one of the closest races of the year.
Leading for the Wildcats, and claiming second place overall in the conference, was sophomore Jessica Browning with a time of 21:24.
Heather Triplett (22:02), Kristen Bathe (22:20) and Heather Copeland (22:27) all finished up in the top 10, earning all-conference titles.
Lauren Duckworth (29:23) claimed a personal record for the season finishing strong and maintaining the Lady Wildcats' dominance.
Draughn's boys cross country team placed third in the CVAC conference championship.
The team was lead by junior Nakota Hullette (17:41) placing third and senior Aaron Clayton (19:45) placing 12th, both claiming all-conference titles.
Cole Fourshee (20:24), Rob McCarty (21:08) and Patrick Pierce (21:43) completed Draughn's top five runners, scoring 77 team points to claim third place.
The top five were followed by Daniel Chapman (21:58), Ivey Griffin (23:12), Kyle Hansen (23:15), Austin Hyde (23:22), Zeb Dula (24:19) and Jackson Branch (27:04); all running personal records for the season.
Draughn's girls and boys teams will compete in the 2A west regional Saturday at Jackson Park in Hendersonville.
The Lady Wildcats are hoping to place in the top four and continue on to the state meet, and the boys are looking to have several individuals make it to the next level.
