Members of what's known as the SWAT team — Burke County Board of Education candidates Susan Stroup, Sam Wilkinson, Buddy Armour and Catherine Thomas — violated North Carolina's campaign-finance laws, according to the N.C. State Board of Elec-tions.
• Health department says H1N1 vaccines are on the way
The H1N1 flu, commonly known as the swine flu, caused at least 19 children's deaths last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday. That's the largest one-week increase since the pandemic started in April.
