In two previous years, The Art of Chocolate event proved so popular that Options had to turn people away from its annual fundraiser.
"We could only fill so many reservations and the event sold out quickly," said Options Executive Director Kristy Graf.
Art fans this year don't have to wait until The Art of Chocolate to buy some of the pieces donated by more than 100 contemporary artists.
Selected artwork is on display and on sale at the new MESH Gallery, 114 W. Union St. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays.
The Art of Chocolate begins at 7:30 p.m. May 14 in the old National Guard Armory, 306 W. McDowell St., across from CoMMA.
It's preceded at 6 p.m. by the Golden Ticket Sponsor Reception for sponsors (sponsorships start at $150) and selected artists. Chefs Mary Erwin of Madame Chef Couture, Denise Robinson, Brian Seeley of The Herban Legend and Larry Pizzorni will compete to become the first Art of Chocolate top chef.
Each will prepare an appetizer and a chocolate dessert incorporating this year's theme, "Into the Chocolate Factory." Lake James Cellars winery and G' Babies Sweets also will present a wine and chocolate pairing for guests.
For The Art of Chocolate itself, chocolatiers Anne Bourg, G 'Babies Sweets, Alex Bell, Amanda Swink, The Red Radish and Grace Narten will produce chocolate confections.
There will be live music; a silent auction with paintings, photography, jewelry, wearable art and handmade crafts; and a live auction of 10 featured works from local artists.
Tickets are $35 and are only sold in advance. Contact Graf at 438-9444.
