The Historic Morganton Festival‘s 2010 logo incorporates two major themes of the event that begins two weeks from Friday.
Sharon Jablonski, City of Morganton Main Street director and festival executive director, said, “These themes are the ever-popular music, represented by a guitar, and Morganton's natural amenities, represented by swallows and native dogwood blooms.”
A ribbon with the festival’s name and dates, Sept. 10-11, is placed by swallows, binding the themes.
“The bold-colored design is inspired by popular national trends in apparel today, which incorporate retro tattoo and advertising art,” Jablonski said. “Similar styling can be found in some of Morganton's local retail shops.”
“This full-color logo will pop on white T-shirts,” she added.
Michael Berley, a local artist and city employee in the development and design department, created the logo.
The logo will appear on T-shirts sold for $10 at the festival. The design on the back of the shirt features a sunburst,  “always used in festival logos to assist with good weather,” Jablonski said.
Leading the entertainment lineup for the 29th annual festival is national country music star Joe Nichols, who will play on the City Stage at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 11.
“With his deep voice and good looks, singing his many top-10 hits, such as ‘Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off’ and ‘Gimmie That Girl,’ the night is sure to be a crowd pleaser,” Jablonski said.
