The Burke County Beekeepers Association will have its second annual open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Burke County Agriculture Building, 130 Ammons Drive.
People may drop in any time to see bee hives and other tools of the trade on display. Association members will be on hand to answer questions during this basic introduction to beekeeping and to provide information on how to get started and where to buy bees.
Treasurer John Waters says, "Now is good to start planning in order to get bees in hives by early April, which is the best time to start."
Refreshments will be served. The event is free.
For more information contact Donna Teasley at the extension office, 439-4460, or go to http://burke.ces.ncsu.edu on the Web.
The Burke County Beekeeper's Association meets at 7 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month at the extension service.
