The All American Swim Supply-North Carolina High School State 1-A/2-A swimming championships scheduled for Saturday at the Triangle Aquatic Center have been rescheduled.
The championships will be on Monday with the morning schedule adjusted by one hour.
The facility will open at 8 a.m. and the pool will open for warm-ups at 8:30 a.m. Competition will begin after the coaches' meeting concludes at 9:45.
The finals on Monday will begin at 5 p.m.
Both Draughn and East Burke high schools have swimmers qualified for the state championships.
This is the second time weather has interfered with the swimming competitions. When wintry weather arrived in North Carolina last Friday, one of the casualties was the 1A-2A Eastern and Western Regional swimming meets.
The NCHSAA decided all swimmers in the 1A and 2A classes who met the regional qualifying times would automatically receive a berth in the state meet. Nearly all Draughn and East Burke swimmers scheduled for the regionals had the to qualify for the state meet.
Draughn High will be represented by nine boys and seven girls; the largest contingent from any high school in Burke County.
The Draughn swimmers won the CVAC conference and tournament competition. Wildcat coaches are T.R. Robinson and Sarah Rosebrock. The Lady Cats and the Cat swimmers will be competing in a total of 22 individual events and all three relays for both the women and men.
East Burke, coached by David Andersen and Gilbert Guittard, finished second to Draughn in the CVAC tournament. They will be sending eight boys and one girl to compete in Cary on Saturday. The Cavaliers qualified in all three male relays, plus four individual events.
