Nearly 50 volunteers turned out for "Blanket Day" on Saturday in Mt. Hebron Lutheran Church.
Armed with sewing machines, scissors, measuring tapes and talent, the group made blankets that will go to local hospitals for their pediatric patients, to the Child Advocacy Center and to Options Inc.
Julie Propst, the Project Linus coordinator for Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties, said the volunteers completed 62 blankets on Saturday and 77 more are half-finished.
They will schedule a time later to finish up the latter.
In addition, folks who worked at home turned in 35 blankets.
The three counties' chapter joined with 377 chapters nationwide for Saturday's event. Project Linus already has delivered more than 3 million blankets.
Propst noted that 20 blankets previously made by the local chapter were sent to Haiti.
Cindy Williams returned on Saturday for her fifth year.
She said, "This is so rewarding and you know it is going to make a difference for somebody else's life."
