Census Bureau needs local workers

Part-time jobs pay $11.50 per hour

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The U.S. Census Bureau needs more census takers in Burke County.
The jobs pay $11.50 per hour.
Chuck Brown, manager of the North Carolina Employment Security Commission's office in Morganton, said he doesn't know why more people aren't applying for the jobs. In addition to the pay, the jobs are part-time with flexible hours (typically 20 to 40 hours per week), paid training and reimbursement for authorized work-related expenses, such as mileage incurred while doing census work.
Brown encouraged anyone who's interested to contact his office weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 828-438-6161 or to call a toll-free number, 1-866-861-2010.
Applicants must be 18 or older, have a Social Security number and a valid driver's license, take a basic skills test, pass a background check and complete four days of paid training.
More find work, but local jobless rate rises again
