Beam: Rutherford's hard work pays off on the court

»  Comments | Post a Comment

While attending a basketball game recently between Wingate University and Catawba College, I saw a very familiar face.
I was there to watch my nephew Ethan Kincaid, who plays for Wingate; however, his is not the familiar face I am speaking about. That face belongs to former Freedom High School player Donald Rutherford, who stars on the Catawba College team. Donald on that night had 25 points, including three spectacular dunks, and 12 rebounds.
Donald has worked hard on and off the court and deserves to be recognized. He scored 30 points and had 13 rebounds, equalling his career high, in the game against Wingate on Feb. 3. His success is not a fluke. Donald currently averages 16 points and seven rebounds per game for the Catawba Indians.
Hard work does pay off. Great job, Donald.
