Re "Democrats need grassroots effort to maintain control in Raleigh" (The News Herald, Feb. 21), Jess Crowder is either hypocritical or disingenuous if he believes that Democrats are the party "of the people, for the people and by the people."
Democrats in the North Carolina legislature have bottled up in committee a bill which "the people" have a right to vote upon: the marriage amendment act that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. Pandering to the homosexual lobby, the Democratic leadership is holding this bill captive so that "the people" cannot exercise their constitutional right to vote.
If the people of North Carolina want a truly democratic legislature, elect Republicans.
