I cannot believe that as a resident of Valdese I went to vote for/against the liquor referendum at early voting and I was denied the right to vote — the reason being I reside outside city limits.
I have a Valdese address. I live, work and am part of the Valdese community, yet I was denied the right to vote on a very important issue.
So, along with everyone that lives "outside" the city limits, I suppose we are secondary residents. There is something very wrong with this. If we care enough about our town to get out there and make our voice heard, why weren't we allowed the opportunity to do so?
