Lackey: Fischer won't represent us

I am compelled to write this letter after the article about Anne Fischer came out the other day in the newspaper. Everything that Will Riggers stated is true. Is the truth slanderous? I don't think so!
I am a registered Democrat — one from the "old school" Democratic Party, so please do not confuse me with this new bunch of "liberals" or "progressives." Those factions have ruined my party. The majority in the Democratic Party, the "Real Democrats," just won't stand up for their values or just plain don't have the guts to do so. The term "liberal" no longer holds the same meaning as it did when I was growing up with the party in my life.
I am not a lever puller either and I supported Jim Broyhill and other Republican candidates when they showed me that they were the right men for the job. The "right person" is the key wording.
What I am about to say is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God.
When Anne Fischer first ran for Congress in 2004 she came to see me in Morganton and ended up staying three hours trying to convince my wife and I to support her bid for the 10th District congressional seat. I talked with her about many subjects. Shortly after the conversation started, my wife (a registered Republican) left and went into the adjacent room, but still well within earshot. She heard everything anyway, but just didn't want to be in the same room with Ms. Fischer.
I'll try to be short and to the point, so here is what Ms. Fischer told me in answer to my questions. During our discussion about religion she stated that she does not believe in God, but rather in a "creative force." That's her option and free choice. When I asked her about Jesus Christ she first stated, "He never existed," but after some further discussion she finally said He existed, but that He was no more divine than me or her. Again, that's her free choice to believe that. She also furthered that comment by saying that the Bible was, and these are her very words, "purely fiction."
I wanted to know more at this point and I asked her why she was running. She began a long spew about how the "system" wasn't helping her and that she was losing her home. She stated, and again these are her very words, "I just want a job that's easy and if I get elected even for only one term I will have health insurance the remainder of my life and government entitlements to boot."
She also went into how she wanted to do this and that while in office and she wanted to "stir up the good-old-boy network and expose their corruption."
Before it all ended, the topic of abortion came up. She admitted to me point blank that, "earlier in life l had an abortion." That again is her free choice and I asked her why and she stated, "Because it was convenient for me at the time."
I strongly feel that all registered voters of the 10th District, Democratic and Republican alike, deserve to know the truth about this woman because she is deceiving everyone. She can barely even turn on a computer and has hired someone to spit-polish her as electable through her Web site. Don't believe a thing you read on that Web site, because she is only out for Anne and will not represent us.
