Rock School Galleries, 400 W. Main St., Valdese, hosted an artists reception from Thursday for Warren Dennis and Peter Milne.
Dennis is professor emeritus and former chairman of the Art Department at Appalachian University serving nearly 30 years.
During his tenure he developed two interesting programs — the Appalachian-New York Loft Program and the "Art in Europe" Study Abroad Program.
His mural "The Park" can be seen at Burke Mission Station in Morganton and his painting of Thomas Wolfe, a gift from Dr. and Mrs. Paul Deaton to Western Piedmont Community College, can be seen in the Raymond Goodfellow Gallery on campus.
His painting "The Swing" was shown as part of an exhibition organized by the Meridian International Center in Washington, D.C., which traveled abroad to such places as Berlin, Istanbul, Ankara, Belfast, Bratislava and Tirana.
Milne is an artist from Morganton who has exhibited locally in solo exhibitions at the Rock School and the Hickory Museum of Art. He graduated from Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design and his paintings are in private and institutional collections around the U.S.
The exhibition runs through April 23. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and weekends by appointment. Call 879-2129 or visit www.visitvaldese.com.
