• Asheville Symphony Guild offers camp scholarships
The Asheville Symphony Guild will offer full scholarships this spring for musical instrument students in middle and high school to attend the Mars Hill College Summer Music Camp (June 27-July 2).
Applications must be turned into music teachers by April 16 and the teacher has to complete it by April 30.

• Penland photo class discounted for area residents
Penland School of Crafts has openings in an upcoming one-week photography class available at a discount to area residents.
The session runs from April 11-17 and will focus on black-and-white darkroom photography.
The spaces are available at half tuition to residents of the following Western North Carolina counties, including Burke.
Regular room and board charges apply, but students are not required to stay on campus.
Photographer Robin Dreyer is the teacher and the class is an introduction to traditional black-and-white photography. Topics include film processing, printing, camera functions, pinhole cameras, the physics and chemistry of photography, along with some history, design, composition and other discussions. No experience is required; beginners are welcome.
