Homeowner catches thief on tape

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A break-in victim’s personal home video surveillance camera helped detectives capture the man they believe broke in and stole items.

The Burke County sheriff’s office charged Brigham McNeely, 19, of 3868 Bedford St. on Thursday with breaking and entering and larceny.

Victim John Crain of 3515 High Peak Valley Road, Valdese had a video surveillance system set up in his home, sheriff’s detective Jody Price said. The video showed the suspect rifling through Crain’s belongings around 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

Price said the video helped officers identify the suspect, who had stolen prescription medication and cash from Crain.
