A grand jury has indicted a man on allegations he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old.
Ronald William Belloir Jr., 28, of 107 Cox St., Morganton was indicted Feb. 9 on one count each of indecent liberties with a minor and sexual offense with a child, according to a court records.
Belloir was one of 38 people indicted with true bills returned during the weeklong Feb. 6 grand jury session in Burke County.
The 28-year-old was initially charged Jan. 20 with a separate count of indecent liberties.
Belloir was jailed at Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $65,000 secured bond with a court date scheduled for April 30.
The grand jury also returned a true bill indicting Thomas Edward Pearson, 59, on one count of sex act by a custodian.
Pearson, a former sergeant at Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility, was accused of sleeping with 33-year-old Alicia Camille Goode while she was in jail awaiting trial for murder.
He was arrested on March 4 and is being held at an out-of-county jail.
Goode has since been convicted of second-degree murder and is serving a 7- to 9-year sentence, according to prison records.
