  • County's population grows, city's shrinks

     Burke County’s population grew by nearly 1,800 people, 2 percent, between 2000 and 2010, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s official decennial count announced this week.

  • Editorial: Force of numbers is changing county

    Just as the census numbers are forcing changes in the Burke County school district, they should make decision makers for the municipalities and the county also question old assumptions.
