HMS improved to 11-0 on their championship season with one match (today at home vs. Liberty) remaining.
“It feels great to be a part of another championship team here at Heritage,” said Lady Eagles outside hitter Courtney Robinson. “I believe the reason is that we have one of the best volleyball coaches (Travis Poteat) in the state. He pushes us and knows each of the team members’ strengths.”
HMS, led by Brandy Lowman’s 10 consecutive service points, jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the opening set. WJMS cut the margin in half (14-7) behind the accurate serving of Holly Conley (seven service points). Robinson served eight consecutive points, including one ace, to close out the first game in strong fashion.
WJMS picked up some strong serving from Conley and Taylor Gardin in game two to take an 11-7 lead, but the Lady Eagles came storming back. HMS’ Lowman, Robinson, Jordan Street (two service points, assist, kill) and seventh-grader Cynthia Torres (four service points) set the tone.
“I’m very happy to be a part of this team,” said Street. “I think we have strived very hard and played strong this season.”
HMS closed out the match with some key plays by Street (tip winner), Gabby Buruato (four service points, three assists, kill), Leslie Leonard (five service points, two kills, winner), Lauren Byrd (two service points, two kills) and Casey Abee (kill) in the final game.

Buchanan noted Serra Smith, Micaela Queen, Amy Rhoney, Alyssa Lee as other Falcon standouts.
LMS battled back before dropping the final two games in narrow fashion.
