Freedom soccer blows out ER

The Freedom varsity boys soccer team defeated East Rutherford, 7-0, on the road Tuesday. 

The Patriots (14-5-2, 9-2 SMAC) took a 5-0 lead into halftime, as sophomore K.J. Nadeau had a goal and an assist, sophomore Maco Juarez Son had two goals, and freshmen McCartney Barrier and Luis Caballero each added a goal. Seniors Maurtice Francis and Juan Botello had first-half assists, as did junior Justin Hang and freshman Yaret Regino. 

In the second half, junior Alan Garcia scored off an assist by senior Jose Tejeda, and Luis Caballero got his second goal of the night thanks to an assist by fellow freshman Oliver Bradshaw.  

Pats senior goalkeeper Matthew Watson combined with junior Andrew Ayers and freshmen Jordan Summers and Eric Burnett for the shutout in goal. Burnett had Freedom’s lone save, as the Patriots outshot East by a 40-1 margin.

Freedom battled Patton on Senior Night late Wednesday.
